As well as this city provides a massive port and manufacturing facilities for fulfilling each and every need for automobile market. Apart from these, Chennai is also the biggest city in southern part of India and providing home for close to 1 crore people.
Here are some reasons why Chennai is popularly known as “Detroit of India”.
1. Centre place to all big Automobile industry
Chennai has created the best supporting infrastructure at its industrial parks that has attracted many corporations to set up in the city. The best thing about the city is it offers the ready to use plots which attract foreign capital investments. The city also has many leading auto mobile industry and manufactures a lot of sports bikes, luxury cars, large Lorries and battle tanks; every type of vehicle is made in Chennai.
As per research, Tamil Nadu has witnessed around 95.5% increase in the car ownership in the family over the past decade. Apart from Indian industry, major companies like Hyundai, BMW and Ford have plants in the city.
